Besiktas have been offered the chance to sign Huddersfield Town winger Rajiv van la Parra, according to reports from Turkish media outlet Gundem Besiktas.

The 28-year-old is currently facing an uncertain future at the John Smith's Stadium having failed to make a single appearance for the Terriers since last October, in a 1-1 draw with Burnley.

The winger was sent out on loan to Middlesbrough in the January transfer window but after making just five appearances in all competitions for the Teesside club, he is now surplus to requirements under Jan Siewert.

Van la Parra has been missing from the Huddersfield squad in their first two games of the campaign, and it is now claimed that Besiktas have been offered the chance to sign the Dutch winger.

The Turkish side are believed to be in the market for another attacker having been linked with Everton's Yannick Bolasie and Southampton's Mohamed Elyounoussi, but talks between the club and Huddersfield are set to continue over the coming week.

Huddersfield picked up their first point of the 2019/20 season at the weekend, drawing 1-1 with Queens Park Rangers at Loftus Road.

The Verdict

It seems almost inevitable that van la Parra will be on his way out of Huddersfield before the European transfer window closes, and it would probably be for the best.

He only has one year left on his contract with the club, so they might as well try and get some money for him rather than letting him leave on a free transfer next summer.

He is a very talented player on his day, but it just hasn't worked out for him at Huddersfield over the last couple of years, and his time at Boro was hampered by injuries.
