German side Eintracht Frankfurt are the favourites to sign Charlton Athletic midfielder Joe Aribo, it has been reported.

Aribo has been one of Charlton's standout campaigners this season, scoring ten goals in 37 league appearances to help Lee Bowyer's side secure a place in the League One play-offs, with The Addicks currently leading Doncaster 2-1 going into the second leg of their semi final at The Valley on Friday night.

Those performances from Aribo have led to plenty of attention from further up the pyramid, and with the midfielder out of contract at the end of the season, it appears more and more likely that the 22-year-old will be leaving The Valley in the summer.

It now appears that Aribo's next destination could be Germany, with a report in The Independent claiming that Eintracht Frankfurt are favourites to sign the midfielder despite interest from Premier League side Southampton and Scottish giants Celtic and Rangers.

Frankfurt themselves have enjoyed another impressive season in the German top flight, challenging for a Champions League place heading into the final day of the season, having also reached the semi finals of the Europa League, where they were beaten on penalties by Chelsea following an aggregate draw.

The Verdict

Given the chances that a number of other young English players such as Jadon Sancho are currently enjoying in Germany, this may not be such a bad move for Aribo.

The midfielder has shown this season that he is ready to step up this season, and he may feel that a move to the Bundesliga will give him more of an opportunity to do that.
