Serie A club Genoa are chasing the signature of Fulham’s top scorer Aleksandar Mitrovic with January just around the corner – according to Calciomercato.
Mitrovic is one of the Championship’s leading goalscorers this season, having netted 12 goals in 16 appearances for the Cottagers as he’s fired them up into the play-off places.
Genoa are currently sat 17th in the Italian top flight with nine points so far this season, and are just out the relegation zone on goals scored with Sampdoria.
The Italian club are thought to be put off from signing the Serbian goal machine however, with Fulham thought to be wanting £17 million for their talisman.
The 25-year-old originally joined Fulham on loan from Newcastle United in January 2018 and scored 12 goals in 20 appearances as the Cottagers won the Championship play-offs, earning promotion to the Premier League before making his deal permanent to Craven Cottage.
Should Mitrovic stay with Fulham or go to Genoa?
Stay with Fulham
Go to Genoa
Fulham spent one season in the top flight as the Serbian international netted 11 goals in 37 appearances before relegation, and the Serbian has hit the ground running in England’s second tier with an excellent goals record this season for the London club.
Mitrovic is a striker who was born to score goals and he would deserve the opportunity to test himself in Italty’s top tier, however him going to Europe’s best defensive league and to a team that’s struggling wouldn’t do him any good.
The striker would be better off fighting for promotion back to the Premier League this season with Fulham and then considering his options next summer while he’s still in the peak of his powers.
