After weeks of speculation, Sky Bet Championship side Derby County have confirmed that Frank Lampard has left the club to become the new Head Coach of Chelsea.

The 41-year-old enjoyed a hugely impressive debut season in management with the Rams last term, in a campaign where they narrowly missed out on promotion to the Premier League.

The former England international guided the Rams to the Championship play-off final, where they were defeated by Aston Villa, but has now moved to a club that he knows incredibly well indeed.

Chelsea have now announced the appointment of their former midfielder - a man who made over 600 appearances for the club, as well as lifting 13 major trophies during his time at Stamford Bridge.

Derby also look set to make a swift appointment, with former PSV manager Phillip Cocu set to take the reins at Pride Park, after what has been a hectic few weeks for the East Midlands club.
