Bolton Wanderers’ off-the-field issues continue to impact the club, with striker Christian Doidge returning to Forest Green Rovers.
The League Two side had loaned the player to the Championship side and the move was expected to be made permanent once the window opened.
However, Dale Vince, owner of Forest Green, revealed in a lengthy statement how the Trotters had broken promises to both the club and the player as well as breaking the contract.
Yet, Bolton issued a brief reply to that today on their official site, where they criticised Vince for putting his comments out to the public:
“We are disappointed to read the statement as the club has been in dialogue with Mr Vince and Forest Green Rovers over this situation. We are hopeful that a satisfactory resolution will follow.”
Unsurprisingly, that generated an angry response from Wanderers supporters and from other football fans, particularly as it’s just the latest issue with the club, who last month failed to pay the players on time once again.
Here’s some of the responses to the club update on Twitter…
The situation that we are in and that’s all that the club have to say about it. Give your fans something

How illuminating. Keep up the transparency guys!

You've literally told us absolutely nothing in regards to what state our club is in. Dale Vince made everything clear and transparent as to the current situation. Only fair that Ken does the same. Shame he doesn't know fair though does he. #EnoughIsEnough

Our once great club is a laughing stock. This is not how to run a football club. Chairman leave and take your son with you.

Desperately poor behaviour from Bolton all round showing no respect at all for the player, his club or their own supporters. Bolton need to be publicly shamed for their actions and not pretend to be affronted that they have been made public.

Nat Lofthouse will be shaking his head. Should be ashamed it ever got to this
