Oldham Athletic confirmed the news that Paul Scholes has left his role as manager of the League Two club on Thursday evening.
Scholes had only been in charge of his boyhood team for a short-spell and he leaves the side in 14th position in League Two.
There were high hopes for the Manchester United legend in his first managerial job, but it seemingly hasn’t gone as planned as he hinted at potential unbroken promises in a statement released explaining his decision.
“In the short period since I took on the role it unfortunately became clear that I would not be able to operate as I intended and was led to believe prior to taking on the role.”
It’s safe to say that Oldham supporters were best pleased with this latest announcement by the club and it leaves them in a very tricky position.

When this joke of a owner has gone let me know and i’ll be back but until then this club will only go one way.

Unfortunately, suspect the only way this improves (a long way in the future) is if everyone boycotts the games. Owner needs to leave and what will be will be. Enough is enough #oafc

That's me done with the club. Everyone involved at board level is a disgrace. Going to go watch @StalyCelticFC going forward.

Owners haven’t even tried to fight their corner so scholes is right… meddling owners

Getting a bit of a joke now. Us fans are sick to the back teeth of this so called owner and things need to be done!

What a joke of a club we have become!!
Who in their right mind would want to manage, or should I say have the title of manager, at this club?? I really thought the feel good factor was coming back!!
