Sunderland face a huge match against Derby County, eager for points but knowing that games are running out quickly.

Chris Coleman has been shuffling his pack eagerly as he tries to find a winning formula, something that the Black Cats have only managed once in 2018.

This weekend, he brings defender Marc Wilson back in to the fold.

“Marc Wilson has trained very well and is back in the squad, and the boys that came back from international duty are all fine as I sit here now.” He told the official club site.

Eire defender Wilson has made 14 starts for Coleman's side this season, but was last seen in January limping off at half time of the 4-0 hammering at Cardiff. He moved to the Stadium of Light on a free transfer in August after a season at Bournemouth.

Sunderland are currently five points from safety, with eight games remaining of the season. A relegation would see them slip into the third tier for only the second time in their history.

The Verdict

In his six previous matches for Sunderland, Wilson saw the side collect seven points, a total they haven't replicated in the eleven matches he's missed. If a defender can have such a huge impact, then he's just returning at the right time but I can't see how he's going to turn around their dismal season.
