Nottingham Forest defender Joe Worrall has been nominated for the Young Player of the Year award while on loan at Rangers.

The 22-year-old has made 29 appearances for Rangers so far during his season-long loan spell and scored his first goal for the Scottish Premiership club in the 1-1 draw with Aberdeen earlier this month.

Rangers confirmed the news on their official club website, asking for fans to vote for their winner of the award, with the results to be announced later this month.

The centre-back is up against Liverpool loanee Ryan Kent, Croatia under-21 international Nikola Katic, academy graduate Ross McCrorie and 19-year-old winger Glenn Middleton.

The Verdict:

It's always nice to see a player do well while on loan at another club and Nottingham Forest fans will no doubt be impressed with the encouraging progress Worrall has made north of the boarder.

The 22-year-old has turned in a number of impressive displays this season, leading to praise from his manager Steven Gerrard.

This, along with his end-of-season nomination, will no doubt do boost the players confidence and please fans of his parent club as well.

It remains to be seen whether the centre-back has done enough to force his way into Forest manager Martin O'Neill's plans for next season, but judging by his performances in Scotland, he could yet prove to be an important player for the Championship club in the future.
