Joe Aribo has written a heartfelt message to Charlton fans after it was announced that he is joining Rangers.

Rangers confirmed the signing of Aribo on a four-year deal, despite their being interest from many teams in England and across Europe, according to The Scottish Sun.

The centre midfielder played 36 games this season and scored nine goals and was a crucial part in the Addicks getting promotion.

His departure has been marred with controversy though, with Lee Bowyer doubting Rangers as a destination, claiming that he is less likely to get a move to the Premier League because of it, he told TalkSport.

Despite this, Aribo gave a thorough and sincere thank you message to the fans and colleagues, which even included a special mention of Bowyer.

He finished off his message with a thank you tribute to the fans.

It read: "And lastly, the fans, thank you so much from the bottom of my heart for always supporting me through the ups and downs, sending in your positive messages and always being there for myself and the team, it was always an honour wearing the Charlton shirt".

Many Charlton fans did not seem bitter about Aribo's departure, and were genuinely grateful for his lengthy message. A couple of users spoke about the sadness of the message, with one saying "can't lie, you got me emotional there Joe", while another joked "I hate scrolling through Twitter while cutting onions".
