Norwich City are expected to cash in on star-man Emiliano Buendia during the summer transfer window with there being an acceptance it could be the right time for him to move on, per The Athletic.

Buendia has enjoyed an exceptional campaign in the Championship with the Canaries and has been the division’s outstanding player firing in 15 goals and providing 16 assists in his 39 appearances. The attacker has been heavily linked with a potential move to Arsenal for a while now, and according to a recent report from The Sun he is a top target for them this summer.

There have also been reports from The Sunday Mirror (01/05/2021, p72) that West Ham are also interested in making a move for Buendia during the summer transfer window. While it has also been reported by Sky Sports that Aston Villa are also in the mix to try and secure his signature.

According to the latest report from The Athletic, Buendia and the Canaries have now accepted that this summer could be the right time for him to move on from Carrow Road. It is believed that there is an expectation that he will depart the club during the transfer window. The report adds there will be competition for him from a major European side and it would take above £40 million to get him.

The verdict

It has seemed inevitable for a while now that Norwich might have to reluctantly cash in on Buendia this summer given the amount of speculation that has been surrounding his potential future. However, it now seems that the Canaries are going to be willing to let him go and that could mean that a departure happens more quickly if they can get the right sort of offer for him.

That is something that could be important because Norwich are going to need time to bring in a replacement for Buendia. Identifying that replacement is going to be a major challenge, but you back the Canaries to find the right option to fit their system and style of play.

Buendia could well turn out to be a star signing for any of the clubs that manage to make a successful move for him this summer. He is a player that looks ready to really shine on the Premier League stage and you can see him enjoying an impressive campaign next term. Norwich should be able to bring in a lot of money for him given the amount of sides interested.
