Rangers playmaker Josh Windass wants to leave the Scottish giants in the summer after they went back on their promise to hand him a new deal to sign in the January transfer window, according to Football Insider.

Windass attracted plenty of interest in his signature last month and was reportedly persuaded to stay at Ibrox on the condition that he would be offered a new contract, but that has failed to materialise.

Leeds United were one of the many clubs linked with the former Accrington man in January and this latest development could open the door for them to swoop again in the summer.

I think he would add something that Leeds are missing right now. Coming to the Championship would be a step up but Windass has proved that he can deal with the pressure and spotlight that comes with being at a huge club.

He is a risk-taker and Leeds need more creativity in forward areas. Leeds secured deals that could end up totalling around £10m last month, so they clearly have money to spend and transfers from Scotland don't tend to cost the earth these days in any case.

The fact that there is a stand-off over Windass's contract means he should come even cheaper and I think Leeds should be at the front of the queue for the player.
