The English Football League released a statement announcing that the decision by Derby to postpone their game with Cardiff was the right one.

Adverse weather conditions caused the game to be called off although it was the only game in the league that didn't go ahead, which angered some Cardiff fans.

The game will now be played on the 24 April which actually benefits Cardiff over Derby based on the games they play around that fixture. This game has big ramifications for both sides and the fact that it is now the third to last game of the season adds to that.

Both sides are fighting for places in the top six with Cardiff likely to get promoted to the Premier League through the automatic promotion spots while Derby will have to fight through the play-offs if they are to have any chance of getting promoted.

Based on the weather conditions and information from the local authorities, the EFL have deemed it was the right decision in their statement.
