Plenty of Stoke City fans have taken to social media to react to Sam Vokes’ performance in the 2-0 defeat to West Bromwich Albion last night.
It was another disappointing and frustrating night for Stoke fans, as their side suffered their eleventh defeat in 15 Championship games this season – in their first game since the club parted company with manager Nathan Jones last week.
Stoke got off to the worst possible start, when Matt Phillips gave West Brom the lead in the eighth minute, turning Grady Diangana’s cross at the far post for his sixth goal of the season.
The home side never really recovered from their early setback and shot themselves in the foot midway through the second half, when a reckless challenge from Cameron Carter-Vickers brought down Diangana in the box – allowing Hal Robson-Kanu to make it 2-0 from the penalty spot.
Stoke remain bottom of the Championship table, six points from safety and have now lost their last three matches without scoring a goal.
Plenty of fans were quick to take to social media to express their frustration at the team’s performance and one player who fans were particularly vocal about was striker Vokes.
Can Stoke City avoid relegation this season?
The 30-year-old started up front last night but struggle to make an impact, much to the annoyance of some Stoke supporters. Here is a look at some of the best reactions from fans on Twitter…
Peter Crouch would be a better option than Sam Vokes even now. #scfc

We have to go back to basics. Players inept but tactics were again tonight too. Didn't make any changes to combat their threats. They still haven't realised Vokes wont win a header against 2 massive CB's. We need a new manager and impetus by Saturday. #SCFC #WBA

We've signed some rubbish in recent years but Sam Vokes is right up there as the worst. Offers nothing. #scfc

West Brom paid a combined 5m for Romaine Sawyers and Semi Ajayi. Stoke meanwhile paid Burnley 7m and gave them Peter Crouch in exchange for Sam Vokes…
Stoke's recruitment stinks. #scfc

We look every inch a relegation team, don’t we. Hit and hope up to Vokes. 3 CMs and absolutely zero movement between lines. No option for player on the ball. Relying on luck to score and set pieces. West Brom are just better. #SCFC #Stoke #SCFCWBA

The middle three were full of wind & steam but we create nowt. Lobbing pointless balls up to Vokes is embarrassing!!

Doesn’t matter who we get as our next manager. We’re still lumbered with useless wasters like Smith, Lindsay, Vokes and Batth to name but a few.
