Norwich City sporting director Stuart Webber has claimed relegation and promotion should be removed if the Premier League is completed on the pitch and the Championship is not, which has left many Leeds United fans fuming.

The English football season has now been delayed for more than two months but it seems we could be moving towards its restart.

Premier League clubs met earlier this week to discuss 'Project Restart', with the division pushing to return by the 12th of June.

The Athletic has reported that the Championship hopes to return the weekend before that, though it has been privately admitted that it could be curtailed.

Speaking to Sky Sports, Webber has argued that should that be the case and only the Premier League finish the 2019/20 campaign on the pitch then relegation and promotion should be removed.

He said: "In my opinion, it needs to be settled on the pitch, not off the pitch."

Webber added: "What we could not accept is a situation where we play out all our games, get relegated but then the Championship can’t play – because we don’t even know if the government are going to let them play – and then they automatically promote some teams who haven’t finished the season.”

Norwich were promoted as Champions last term but having struggled in the Premier League, currently find themselves bottom of the table and six points adrift of safety.

Have these 15 current Leeds United players been capped at international level? – Yes or no? Have a go now!
