Major football in Europe took its first steps towards hopeful recovery on Saturday afternoon as the German Bundesliga took centre-stage and provided some welcome relief after weeks without the game.

The Germans have managed the situation better than most on the continent and, therefore, they have managed to bring football back - though of course in front of empty stadiums.

Plenty of fans will have tuned into the matches yesterday, though, with Dortmund v Schalke one of the most exciting games to watch as BVB ran out 4-0 winners against their local rivals.

Once again, Erling Haaland grabbed some of the headlines as he hit the net once more and, after the game, he took to Twitter to express his delight:
