Robbie Gotts is set to sign a new deal at Leeds United, but there’s an opportunity for him to go out on loan, with Huddersfield Town, Hull City and Blackpool all interested in offering him first-team football.

Leeds are preparing for life back in the Premier League for the first time since 2004, with Gotts making two appearances across all competitions in their promotion-winning campaign.

Marcelo Bielsa remains a fan of the midfielder despite his limited involvement, with Leeds set to reward their academy graduate with new terms before exploring the loan deals that are on the table.

Quiz: Do you remember which club Leeds United signed these 15 players from?

Phil Hay at The Athletic, in his latest podcast, confirmed that news: “Robbie Gotts will be tied to new terms and, I think, he will find a loan club.

“He’s got an amount of interest in him: Huddersfield, naturally, who have Carlos Corberan as coach now, are keen, but also Hull and Blackpool would like to take him.”

Corberan was on Bielsa’s coaching staff last season at Leeds and worked closely with Gotts in the under-23s.

He’s at Huddersfield now as a head-coach, with a clear interest in Gotts and offering him Championship football.

For Hull and Blackpool, they are League One clubs now and planning for the 2020/21 season.

The Verdict

The next 12 months is going to be big for Gotts, who at 20, needs a 46-game season under his belt.

The midfielder looks like he will get offers from the Championship and League One, with Leeds’ task finding him the very best club for him to develop at.

Huddersfield looks a good move because of Corberan, but they have to promise he will play games.

If he doesn’t get those assurances, League One might be better. At that level, he could really make an impact.
