Leeds United striker Eddie Nketiah has heaped praise on Arsenal legend Ian Wright for all his help during his move to Elland Road, report the Yorkshire Evening Post.

Nketiah moved to Leeds on loan from the Gunners during the summer transfer window after rising through their youth system with Wright offering him guidance along the way, as well as watching the young striker play for his new club.

"Ian is a massive help," he told a pre-match press conference on Thursday.

I've got really close with him. It's a dream come true and as a kid I've always looked up to him. He's a bit of a mentor."

Since arriving at the club, Nketiah has netted three times in four appearances, twice in the League Cup and the winner against Brentford last week, but is yet to earn a start in the Championship thanks to the quick start made by his teammates.

The Whites currently sit top of the second-tier table with five matches played, most recently seeing off Stoke 3-0 away from home, which followed on from an impressive midweek win against the Bees.

This weekend sees them clash with Swansea City at Elland Road, the club currently sat closest to them in the table, for what will prove a good early test of their credentials.

The verdict

I am not sure there could be a better person for Nketiah to get regular advice from than Ian Wright.

He is an Arsenal legend, so obviously cares a lot about what is best for the club, but he clearly wants what is best for Eddie as well and it must be an enormous boost to see him cheering you on in the stands.

Wright will now be keen to see him become ruthless and make that starting spot his own.
