Lincoln City have joined the race for Leeds United midfielder Robbie Gotts as several sides in League One battle to take him on loan from Elland Road this season, according to Alan Nixon on Twitter.

The Imps have started this season in decent form but suffered a turnaround on Saturday afternoon at home to Bristol Rovers and boss Michael Appleton might well feel as though he wants to add to his side before the deadline on Friday afternoon later this week.

The Leeds United youngster is reportedly in his sights, then, but Lincoln are by no means the only third tier team taking a look at him with the likes of Swindon Town, Charlton and Sunderland all being credited with an interest in him.

The Verdict

Leeds have got some good young players at the moment and it would be no surprise to see more of them head out on loan this season before the end of the transfer window.

With them back in the Premier League they have naturally added to their side and the opportunities for young players have probably decreased this season in terms of playing in the first team.

Loan moves make sense, then, and it appears there is quite a queue forming for Gotts.
