Grant McCann and Hull City are lining up a move for a Celtic centre forward, according to the Football Insider.

Ciaran Diver is the man that they are after, according to the report.

The Tigers are hoping to get the 19-year-old this window and have registered an interest in the youngster.

Diver is a product from the Celtic academy and is yet to have a shot in the first team. He has been playing men's football, though, being on loan Scottish League One and Scottish League Two this season.

He played 10 games for Edinburgh City last season scoring once and played nine times for Stranraer but failed to score.

With Frazier Campbell's contract expiring, Nouha Dicko will be left as the club's only first-team striker, so it appears McCann is acting to rectify that.

The Verdict

This is a bit of an odd signing and one which has the future in mind.

Based on Diver's previous experience then it would appear he is far below Championship level at the moment as a striker, only managing one goal in 17 games in Scottish League One and Two.

McCann is clearly on a shoestring budget at Hull and looks to be targeting youngsters. The squad needs a bit of bulking, so perhaps he is trying to fill it out first and foremost and then they will go looking for first-teamers.
