Two promising Nottingham Forest youngsters are on trial at Lincoln City, with a view to a loan deal at Sincil Bank, reports Lincolnshire Live.

The Imps lost 3-1 to a strong Norwich City side in the first pre-season game of 2018/19, but featured a host of trial players in the second half, with the Forest pair two of seven trying to stake a claim for a contract next season.

The first is defender Adam Crookes, a 20-year old member of the Forest U23 squad. He spent time on loan at Guiseley last season as they battled against relegation from the National League, but was recalled before the end of his loan spell.

Crookes can also play in midfield and was a regular in the U23 side, but his spell in Yorkshire was his first taste of senior football.

Edser is a highly rated midfielder snatched from Charlton Athletic in 2015. As well as the Addicks he had also spent some time with Fulham and is billed as a 'talented playmaker'.

Last season he captained the U23 side at the City Ground, but was described as 'open to a move away', following in the footsteps of Ryan Yates and Jorge Grant who both made a big impression in League Two last season.

The Verdict

This pair could be significant signings at Lincoln, especially Edser who is primed to make the step up to senior football.

Neither looked out of place in the second half of last nights game, watched by FLW, but Edser in particular stood out with a composed and threatening display.
