The EFL have confirmed that Bolton's game with Brentford has been rescheduled for Tuesday 7th May, in what will be the last game of the Championship season before the play-offs.

The game had previously been postponed after Bolton's first-team squad took strike action over unpaid wages for March, in a move that was welcomed by the majority of the club's supporters.

Laurence Bassini's takeover of the club is yet to be finalised, and the owner in waiting is keen to have this predicament concluded as soon as possible.

The board discussed the potential of placing Bolton into administration, but insisted the game wouldn't take place if this was to happen.

Bolton supporters will be keen to see back of this season, in what has been a miserable league campaign both on and off the pitch.

Their well-publicised financial issues don't seem to be going anywhere anytime soon, which will certainly be a concern for the Bolton fans heading into next season in League One.

An interesting summer awaits, with the clear out likely to start soon after their game with Brentford is completed.

The Verdict:

It's the best outcome in a poor situation.

This game needed to be completed, and it's good to see the EFL finalising a date for the match to be played, although it will be interesting to see what team is fielded for Phil Parkinson's side.

The sooner the season is finished for Bolton, the better.
