Bristol City will be hoping to push themselves closer to the play-offs as they take on Wycombe Wanderers on Boxing Day.

The Robins currently sit in ninth spot in the table but are currently on a three-match losing streak which has dampened spirits around Ashton Gate.

Dean Holden will be hoping to pick up three points with a win potentially taking them level on points with sixth spot.

For Wycombe Wanderers the objective is much different.

The Chairboys find themselves sitting at the bottom of the Championship and are now in a position where they need to pick up points and fast if they're going to escape the drop zone.

One man who has been watching both clubs closely is David Prutton who expects Bristol City to take the win despite their 'streaky' form.

Quiz: Have any of these 22 players ever been in Bristol City’s academy?

Writing for Sky Sports, Prutton said: "Three defeats on the spin now for Bristol City.

"Are they the same streaky side they were under Lee Johnson? It is starting to look that way.

"Wycombe are still picking up points wherever they can.

"They are the massive underdog in every game they go into in this league, and will give this as good a go as ever, but I fancy Bristol City to return to winning ways here."

The Verdict

It's hard to look past Bristol City for this one.

While they're not exactly enjoying a good run of form at the moment they're certainly the stronger side on paper.

With no disrespect to Wycombe, this is a game that Dean Holden's side absolutely have to be winning.
