Sky Sports EFL pundit David Prutton has predicted that Birmingham City's winless run will extend to six games when they face Bristol City on Saturday, forecasting a 2-0 victory for the Robins.

Holden's men weathered an early storm to come away 2-1 winners against QPR in midweek, the perfect antidote to a lacklustre performance against Reading last weekend.

They welcome a Birmingham side to Ashton Gate that have not won a game since October, a run that's seen them slide down the Championship table.

In his predictions for Sky Sports, Prutton has indicated that poor run is going to continue and suggested that Dean Holden's side will win 2-0 on home turf.

He explained: "Given what we have seen from Bristol City this week, having reacted from that defeat against Reading last weekend to win at QPR, it seems Dean Holden is doing a sterling job.

"For Aitor Karanka and Birmingham, it's all about mid-table this season, given where they are at the moment. The form going into this one would favour the home side."

That result could see City climb go top of the Championship, should results elsewhere go their way.

The Blues, on the other hand, could see the gap between them and the relegation places cut to just three points.

City have a long list of absentees due to injuries but Holden has suggested that Jamie Paterson could return for Saturday's game.

Aitor Karanka has revealed that Adam Clayton will not be available for tomorrow's game and indicated that he is waiting for the "right time" to introduce recent arrival Alen Halilovic.

Which club did Birmingham City sign each of these 25 players from?

The Verdict

What the Robins have shown this term is that even when they aren't at their fluent best, they're capable of grinding out results.

That's precisely what Birmingham have been unable to do and Tuesday's 2-1 defeat to Barnsley was another example of a tight game going against them.

Those two contrasting records don't bode well for the Blues in this one, so unless Holden's side produce the sort of dismal display they did against Reading it looks like it could be a difficult afternoon for Karanka and co.
