David Prutton is expecting to see Leeds United dent Barnsley’s hopes of surviving this weekend, with the pundit predicting a draw in this weekend’s Yorkshire derby.

Writing in his prediction column for Sky Sports, Prutton has predicted Leeds and Barnsley to play out a 1-1 draw at Elland Road, which could push the Tykes into further trouble.

Jose Morais’ side are heading to Elland Road at a good time, with Leeds well out of form and Paul Heckingbottom already under pressure, just months after leaving Barnsley for Leeds.

Leeds have just two victories to their name since Heckingbottom took charge at Elland Road, with the Whites now drifting towards a mid-table finish.

Whilst Leeds have nothing but pride to play for in the coming weeks, Barnsley are looking to claw their way to safety between now and the end of the season.

Morais’ side sit in the relegation zone, but are just two points adrift of Birmingham City, holding a game in-hand over those around them in the table.

The Tykes will head to Elland Road full of confidence, though, after Oli McBurnie’s 93rdminute goal last weekend secured a 2-2 draw with Bolton Wanderers.

The Verdict

Barnsley need the points this weekend, and are sure to be fired up heading to Elland Road and going up against their former head-coach.

Heckingbottom has struggled to impress so far at Leeds, with the Elland Road atmosphere sure to be on a knife edge this weekend.

It will be a close game at Elland Road, but with Barnsley fighting for every point available, you can see them edging it.
