David Prutton is expecting to see Sheffield Wednesday return to winning ways in the Sky Bet Championship this week when they face Ipswich Town at Portman Road, reports Sky Sports.

Writing in his prediction column for Sky, Prutton has predicted that Wednesday will pick up their third victory in four on Tuesday, beating Ipswich 2-1 at Portman Road in a tight contest.

Sheffield Wednesday have enjoyed a mini revival recently, which has helped to lift some of the mounting pressure off Carlos Carvalhal at Hillsborough.

Back-to-back victories over Millwall and Aston Villa prior to the international break lifted spirits, and whilst many were disappointed by the 0-0 draw with Bristol City on Saturday, the Owls put in another encouraging defensive performance.

Tuesday’s opponents, Ipswich, sit one place and one point above the Owls in the Championship table, with Mick McCarthy’s side entering the contest unbeaten in their last two.

The Tractor Boys enter Tuesday’s contest on the back of a 2-2 draw with struggling, Hull City, with McCarthy having Jordan Spence’s late goal to thank for a well earned point at the KCOM Stadium.

The Verdict

This is a difficult clash for Sheffield Wednesday, and if Carvalhal’s side can pick up three points, they will be delighted.

Ipswich are a well organised outfit, who are very typical of a Mick McCarthy side.

Whilst Prutton is expecting an away victory, we believe Ipswich, at home, will pick up at least a point.
