David Prutton is expecting Middlesbrough to add to Sunderland’s troubles in the Sky Bet Championship tomorrow, with Garry Monk’s side picking up three points thanks to a convincing display at the Riverside Stadium, reports Sky Sports.

Writing in his prediction column for Sky, Prutton has predicted Boro to add to the misery at Sunderland, with Monk’s side picking up a 3-0 victory against their fierce rivals.

Boro are on a mini revival in the Championship, with the Teessiders moving to the brink of the top-six thanks to back-to-back victories away from the Riverside in the last week. Reading and Hull City have both been beaten, leaving Monk’s side eighth heading into the weekend.

Monk takes his side back to the Riverside Stadium on Sunday, welcoming Sunderland, who are beginning life without Simon Grayson, who was sacked following Tuesday’s 3-3 draw with Bolton Wanderers.

Sunderland are without a victory since early August, and have picked up just one victory since their Championship return, which leaves the Black Cats in the relegation zone, facing another season battling relegation – albeit in a different league.

The Verdict

It is easy to understand why Prutton is predicting a victory for Middlesbrough tomorrow afternoon, with Sunderland in an extremely worrying run of form.

It will be interesting to see if Grayson’s dismissal galvanises Sunderland, but they face a difficult task against a Middlesbrough side that are beginning to find their best under Monk.

Whilst Boro will be favourites, it could be closer than Prutton is predicting, but it is hard to look past a home victory.
