David Prutton is expecting Fulham to progress to the Sky Bet Championship play-off final, despite trailing Derby County following the first-leg of the semi-final.

Writing in the his prediction column for Sky Sports, Prutton has hinted that he is expecting Derby to take Fulham all the way in tonight’s clash, but the Cottagers to progress via a penalty shootout.

Friday’s first-leg saw Derby, who finished the regular season in sixth, grasp control of the play-off semi-final, with Cameron Jerome’s powerful header the difference between the two sides at the Pride Park Stadium.

However, despite trailing 1-0, Prutton is expecting Fulham to make home advantage count this evening, predicting Slavisa Jokanovic’s side to progress to the Wembley final later this month.

Derby last travelled to Craven Cottage in November, when Matej Vydra’s 50th minute goal cancelled out Oliver Norwood’s opener, securing a 1-1 draw for Gary Rowett’s side.

A repeat of that result this evening would see the Rams progress to Wembley.

The Verdict

Prutton is predicting an exciting clash at Craven Cottage this evening, as Fulham look to work their way back into the tie.

There is no doubt that Derby handled the occasion better than Fulham on Friday, with Jokanovic’s side looking a shadow of their best.

The first goal tonight is going to be key, and if Derby can land the first blow, it could prove to be decisive.
