Charlton Athletic travel to London Road to take on Peterborough United tomorrow afternoon in League One.

It is a hugely important contest for both sides as they look to improve their promotion credentials.

Charlton travel to their play-off rivals looking to go level on points with Luton in second place.

Lee Bowyer’s side are unbeaten in their last four league games, winning three of them.

That return to form has seen them climb the table to be within a win of getting into the top two.

Steve Evans' side, meanwhile, have dropped off somewhat in recent weeks picking up just one win in their last three games, and two in their last six.

That run of form has left Peterborough sixth in the table, inside the top-six by a point.

A win could revive their fading chances of getting automatic promotion.

Ahead of the clash, Sky Sports enlisted the help of pundit David Prutton to give his thoughts on the outcome of this intriguing League One fixture.

The EFL presenter said: “Peterborough looked like automatic promotion contenders earlier in the season, but they have lacked consistency in the last couple of months.

“They could also slip out of the play-off places if they are beaten by Charlton, who are in excellent form and could pose a threat to the top two themselves.

“That being said, I think this will be a draw, 1-1.”

The Verdict

This is arguably the game of the weekend in League One, between two sides who were expected to be in this position at the start of the season.

Both Charlton and Peterborough have been pretty consistent this season when it has mattered, despite small blips.

The Addicks, however, are better placed than their promotion counterparts and despite Prutton going for a score draw, I am less inclined to agree with him.

Posh need a win and in big games they usually deliver – and I think they will. I am going to learn towards a narrow win for the London Road outfit. 2-1.
