Aston Villa will be looking to bounce back from an FA Cup defeat last weekend with their game against Nottingham Forest this weekend.

The men from Villa Park were pretty embarrassing against Peterborough United last weekend and fans of the club will have been pretty disappointed with what they saw.

For sure, then, they have a point to prove against Forest this weekend and for Andy Hinchcliffe Villa are still yet to really hit the heights that they should have done this season.

Indeed, in comments that fans should be interested with, the EFL pundit has said that Villa have underperformed but they still have one of the best squads in the league.

He said - as quoted by the Express:

"Villa are in the play-offs but you'd still argue they've underperformed this season.

“In terms of quality and experience they've got one of the best squads the Championship has ever seen, but they still haven't really threatened the top two yet.”

Certainly, Villa have some top players available to them and so they should be up there in the promotion battle.

They are not far off, though, and they have had injury problems more than most this season so once that is over they should really be able to get towards the summit.

The Verdict

Villa do have one of the best squads in the league but it's not much use when a load of injuries hit.

They are still in striking distance of the top two, though, and there's plenty of football to be played so let's see if they can kick on over the coming months.
