Former Leeds United midfielder David Prutton insists the Whites can't get too carried away after a remarkable weekend in the promotion race last time out.

Marcelo Bielsa's side came from behind twice to beat Millwall 3-2 at Elland Road, whilst rivals Sheffield United threw away a lead to lose to Bristol City by the same score.

That means it's advantage Leeds as we approach the final seven games of the season as they boast a two-point lead.

Yet, writing in his Yorkshire Evening Post column, Sky Sports pundit Prutton warned that there is still a long way to go and it's important the side don't get ahead of themselves.

"Leeds had to come out of the traps flying but they have got to be extremely wary and careful that just the right amount of nervous energy is expended so that there is enough left in the tank for these last seven games.

"It’s now advantage Leeds with a two-point cushion over Sheffield United but just one game before that it was advantage Sheffield United, so Leeds can’t get too carried away."

Leeds are in action today as they face a tough trip to Birmingham, whilst Chris Wilder's men are at Preston in what will also be a hard game.

The Verdict

You can't really disagree with what Prutton says. Even though it was a fantastic afternoon for Leeds it was also a reminder of how quickly things can change.

But, there's no way that Bielsa or the players will think it's job done or anything like that so this won't be an issue.

All they can do is concentrate on the game later on in what could be another defining day in the promotion race.
