David Prutton believes that Charlton will be equal to the Shrews in the semi-final first leg.

In his weekly column for Sky Sports, Prutton is predicting a 1-1 draw even though Shrewsbury finished 16 points above the Addicks.

Charlton do have home advantage in this leg, but this mattered little in the regular season because Shrewsbury came away with a 2-0 win, although Charlton repaid the favour with a victory by the same scoreline in the reverse fixture.

The path to the play-offs differed considerably for the two teams because Paul Hurst's men were fighting for an automatic promotion spot for most of the season with Wigan and Blackburn finishing ahead of them.

Charlton, on the other hand, looked they were going to finish outside of the top six, but Lee Bowyer has turned them around since coming in with six wins in ten games to beat Plymouth to the last spot.

The Verdict

Shrewsbury will obviously be disappointed that they have to go through the play-offs after such an impressive season, but they have had plenty of time to deal with that because that was confirmed with two games to spare.

The only issue with Hurst's side is that this is the second time they have come up short this season due to the EFL trophy final loss to Lincoln, so this might be weighing on their mind going into these games. However, if they can forget about that then their difference should tell over two legs with home advantage in the second being key.
