Aston Villa will look to get back to winning ways as they try and close the gap on the top two against Bolton this weekend.

Steve Bruce's men followed up their outstanding win against Wolves with a surprise 3-1 defeat to QPR on Tuesday night.

That has left them seven points behind Cardiff City and ten behind leaders Wolves, with automatic promotion now looking a long-shot.

However, they do have to play the Welsh side at Villa Park in April so everyone connected with the club understands the importance of showing real consistency until then.

And, Sky Sports EFL pundit David Prutton is expecting them to grind out a win at the Macron Stadium in the evening kick-off tomorrow.

The former Leeds midfielder went for a 1-0 Villa win in his regular online column, with Robert Snodgrass to score the only goal.

The on-loan winger has been in fine form in recent months and has eight goals and 12 assists to his name already this season.

As for Bolton, they are six points ahead of the relegation zone heading into the clash tomorrow.

The Verdict

This is going to be a very tricky game for Aston Villa despite Bolton's lowly position. Phil Parkinson's men have been solid at home and defeat to Preston last time out was their first in seven on their own patch.

Yet, there's no getting away from the fact that Villa are favourites and it's a must-win really.

They need to put the pressure on Cardiff in particular and three points on Saturday will close the gap ahead of the Welsh sides trip to Derby on Sunday.
