Aston Villa will have to wait for a third victory of the season when they face Rotherham United tonight, according to David Prutton.

Writing in his prediction column for Sky Sports, Prutton has predicted that Rotherham will frustrate Villa this evening and hold them to a 1-1 draw at Villa Park.

Steve Bruce finds himself under pressure already this season, with his side winless in the last five Championship fixtures.

Over the weekend, Villa were held to a 1-1 draw by Blackburn Rovers, with Conor Hourihane’s late free-kick rescuing Bruce’s side, who now sit 12th heading into this evening’s fixtures.

Tonight, they go up against a Rotherham side who have surprised many of their return to the second-tier.

Paul Warne’s side sit just a point behind Villa in the Championship table, having won three of their seven fixtures so far.

Included in that was an impressive victory over Derby County on Saturday afternoon, with Warne watching his side beat the Rams, who entered the clash sat in the Championship’s top-six.

The Verdict

This is an interesting fixture, as Bruce could really do with a victory.

Pressure is mounting on the Aston Villa boss, and tonight, his side will be expected to beat Rotherham.

However, Rotherham head to Villa Park on the back of a very good victory over Derby.

It’s a big call from Prutton, but it is easy to see why he has backed a draw here.
