EFL pundit delivers his verdict on Leeds investment link-up

Leeds United owner Andrea Radrizzani sold a 10% stake in the club to 49ers Enterprises last week and EFL pundit David Prutton believes that can only be a good thing for the Whites.

The entity, behind American football giants San Francisco 49ers, are believed to be considering investing around £10m into the club which will go straight into helping improve the team.

And, writing in his regular Yorkshire Evening Post column, the former Leeds midfielder Prutton thinks this is good news for the club.

If this opens up avenues to different revenue streams to bring in money which can help the squad and better the squad then I think it can really only be seen as a good thing – as long as it is something that can be maintained and isn’t in any danger of falling flat on its face.”

However, he did also stress that money doesn’t guarantee success, particularly in the Championship.

Middlesbrough spent 50 million quid last summer and they are not getting out of the league and they had money from the Premier League to spend that way.”

The Verdict

This seems like a very good deal for Leeds, especially if the money is used to strengthen the team, which is what they have said will happen.

The current squad isn’t good enough to win promotion and they need several new players and that will cost.

As Prutton says, money won’t guarantee success but it will certainly help. Now Leeds need to use it wisely and bring in proven players.
