The final fixture in the Championship this weekend is one of the standout games as Nottingham Forest host bitter rivals Derby County in what should be an exciting East Midlands clash.

Whilst Aitor Karanka’s men have little to play for themselves, their fans will be demanding victory to ensure the bragging rights along with putting a big dent into the Rams play-off hopes.

Gary Rowett’s side head to the City Ground in worrying form, having failed to win in their previous six games.

That’s seen Derby go from automatic contenders to clinging on to their play-off place. There’s a very real chance that the Rams may be only one point above seventh place by the time of kick-off in Nottingham and that seemed unthinkable last month.

And, EFL pundit and former Reds midfielder David Prutton reckons their winless run will continue, predicting a 2-2 draw in his Sky Sports column with Matej Vydra to score first.

Should the Czech international get on the scoresheet it will be his first goal in a month after a poor recent spell.

The Verdict

They say form goes out the window on derby day and Rowett will certainly hope it does given his side are without a win in six and Forest are unbeaten in five.

It should be a good game to watch though with both sides playing at a frenetic pace and 2-2 is a fair prediction from Prutton.

Derby’s defence have not played well in recent weeks whilst Forest are unpredictable in terms of their attacking.
