The Saturday evening game in the Championship will see two European Cup winners clash as Nottingham Forest welcome Aston Villa to the City Ground.

As well as that, it’s Aitor Karanka’s first game in charge of the Reds after he was appointed following Mark Warburton’s dismissal on New Year’s Eve.

That should result in an electric atmosphere by 5:30pm as Forest look to build momentum after the surprising FA Cup success over Arsenal last week.

Villa were involved in a cup surprise themselves as they lost to League One Peterborough, but they make the short trip to Nottingham with back-to-back wins in the league against Middlesbrough and Bristol City, which leaves them fifth in the table.

Steve Bruce’s men will be eyeing up second place and three points tomorrow would be a massive boost, however EFL pundit David Prutton thinks they will come unstuck against Forest.

The former Reds midfielder predicted a 1-0 win for his old club when writing his regular online column and picked influential midfielder Kieran Dowell to open the scoring.

The Verdict

This always was a tough game to call and the appointment of Karanka makes it even harder. Will he have had time to get his points across?

Forest will be flying after last week but Villa provide a real stern test and will be confident themselves after two fantastic results in the league recently.

As Prutton says it’s going to be a tight, close match and you wouldn’t be surprised if one goal did make the difference.
