The race for automatic promotion has gone to the final day with Cardiff City knowing a win over Reading will secure their return to the Premier League.

Neil Warnock's men have enjoyed a fantastic season and sit one point ahead of Fulham ahead of the crucial clash after an important win at Hull City last week.

Given Reading's struggles, many see this as an ideal fixture for the Welsh side but the visitors are playing for something themselves.

Paul Clement's side head into the game just two points away from the relegation zone and need a point to guarantee their safety.

However, EFL pundit David Prutton is confident that Cardiff will be victorious in front of their own fans, where they boast a formidable record. They have won 16 of their 22 games at home so far this season.

The former Leeds midfielder revealed in his regular Sky Sports column that he thinks the Bluebirds will have too much for the Royals, going for a 2-0 home win.

Prutton added that he believes results elsewhere will save Reading from the drop.

The Verdict

Whilst Reading have something to play for, this is still an ideal fixture for Cardiff against a side that have lost their last five games on the road.

With two games remaining, Cardiff knew they needed six points and Hull away looked the difficult encounter.

There will still be nerves but the Bluebirds are in a brilliant position and there will be few backing against them tomorrow.
