Sky Sports pundit David Prutton has said it's time for Leeds United Director of Football Victor Orta to 'step up' as the Whites look for a busy end to the window.

When Marcelo Bielsa was appointed as the new manager at Elland Road last month, many expected a very busy window for the Yorkshire club.

However, that hasn't materialised, with Lewis Baker and Jamal Blackman the only two major signings, with the pair joining on loan from Chelsea.

And, writing in his Yorkshire Evening Post column, Prutton called on Orta to bring in the new faces that Leeds desperately need.

"This is when someone like director of football Victor Orta really needs to step up. From a recruitment point of view, this is his time to be under the spotlight and work his magic to get in the players that Bielsa needs."

He was also very critical that the club find themselves in this position.

"The fact Leeds United are still needing to sign these players with less than three weeks to do it is ridiculous."

The Verdict

You can't disagree with what Prutton has had to say. Leeds need several more additions to the squad and more should've been done by now.

And, as a key figure in the recruitment process, Orta has to take a lot of responsibility.

Obviously, there is still time for deals to get done but Leeds have missed out on several key targets already and unless things change dramatically then questions will need to be answered.
