Bournemouth winger David Brooks has claimed he is desperate to get back to the Premier League after a move back to the top flight failed to materialise last term despite reported interest from the likes of Manchester United and Liverpool last month.

The Cherries were relegated back to the Championship last season and lost a number of their prized assets in the summer.

It was reported in October that five top-flight clubs, including Man United, Liverpool, and Tottenham, were keen on signing Brooks but with the transfer window now closed he remains at the Vitality Stadium.

Speaking to the Daily Echo, the Bournemouth man has outlined his desperation to return to the Premier League – whether that is with or without his current side.

He said: "I think being in the Premier League – I had a full season and then got injured. From my point of view, it was cut a bit short for myself.

“I was disappointed I couldn’t really factor in last year, so I am desperate to get back in the Premier League, and hopefully it’s with Bournemouth.

“Everyone wants to be playing at the big, nice stadiums and on the big occasions hopefully when the crowds are back in.

“We are all working towards that and, with the squad we’ve got, we’ve got a really good chance."

Brooks first season in the Premier League was hugely impressive as he added seven goals and five assists in 30 appearances for the Cherries.

Injuries restricted him to just nine appearances last term and have restricted him to just three Championship appearances so far in the current campaign.

You'd imagine that now he is back fit, he will be a regular in Jason Tindall's side.

The Verdict

It was a surprise that Brooks didn't follow the likes of Nathan Ake and Callum Wilson in securing moves back to the top flight in the summer.

The Welshman appears desperate to get back there, however, and you feel if he can rediscover the form he showed in 2018/19 that he will do that next summer – either with the Cherries or via a move elsewhere.

The reported interest from some of England's top clubs shows just how highly rated he is, so there will likely be a fair few teams monitoring him as the season progresses.
