Sky Sports EFL expert David Prutton has predicted West Bromwich Albion’s winless run away from home will continue this evening when they face Blackpool at Bloomfield Road.
The Baggies last won on the road in late September and have lost all four of their away games since, including their 1-0 defeat at the hands of Huddersfield Town on Saturday.
Valerien Ismael’s side won’t have to wait long to try and put that record right as they travel up to the North West to take on Blackpool this evening.
The Tangerines have been one of the surprise packages in the Championship in 2021/22 but have come unstuck a little in recent weeks, taking just two points from their last three games.
Neil Critchley’s team has claimed a number of big scalps this term already, including beating Sheffield United and Fulham, and Prutton has predicted they’ll add Albion to that list this evening.
In his predictions for Sky Sports, he forecasted that Blackpool will claim a 2-1 win at Bloomfield Road.
He explained: “It speaks volumes about how far Blackpool have come since the start of the season that questions are being asked now when they go a few games without a win.
“West Brom lost again at the weekend and that gap to the top two is growing. Questions are being asked of Valerien Ismael’s style and he needs to address those problems quickly.
“This is a tough trip for the Baggies. And one I don’t see them coming away with anything from.”
That result could see the home side close the gap on the top six completely while it may mean that Albion slide down as low as sixth should results elsewhere go against them.
What club do these 22 rarely-seen ex-West Brom players play at now?
Earlier in the 2021/22 campaign, this would’ve been a bold call from Prutton but it’s hard to disagree with him now given how impressive Blackpool have been and Albion’s recent struggles.
After a strong start to the season, things have come unstuck a little for Ismael and his West Brom side.
His direct style of football is not the most aesthetically pleasing and that means when they’re not getting results, it’s frustrating for the Baggies fanbase to watch.
Ismael’s team were impressive on the road in the early part of the season but four defeats in a row is a worrying trend and one you feel they’d love to put right tonight.
