Saturday's Championship lunchtime clash sees two Midlands-based sides with contrasting budgets facing off at the Coventry Building Society Arena with only one point separating them in the table.

West Bromwich Albion were expected to be one of the leading pack at the halfway mark of the season, but as we approach that stage they are seven points away from second-placed AFC Bournemouth after a run of four matches without a win.

Coventry City meanwhile are sitting in sixth place in the Championship, just two positions behind Saturday's opponents and they're perhaps doing better than expected considering some of the spending power that other clubs in the Championship have.

And they come into this one with a ton of momentum having come from two goals down against AFC Bournemouth last weekend to draw 2-2 thanks to a late, late Todd Kane goal.

It could be a big chance for them to take three points off their nearby rivals as they're currently on a bit of a slump, and EFL presenter David Prutton thinks that Mark Robins' side are going to run out 2-1 victors on home soil on Saturday.

"What Coventry have done so far has been absolutely fantastic," ex-Nottingham Forest and Leeds midfielder Prutton said on his Sky Sports predictions show.

"They battled to another comeback draw at Bournemouth last week, showing real character again to take advantage of Jefferson Lerma's red card.

"We've discussed this before again and again, but West Brom fans are just at the stage where they want to see a bit more from their side.

"They are solid at the back but just can't score goals. I fancy them to get back on the scoresheet on Saturday, but I think it will prove futile."

The Verdict

West Brom really need to pull something out of the bag here if they're going to keep touch with the top two in the league.

The fact both Fulham and Bournemouth are playing each other this week means that it's a chance to catch up on one or potentially both with a victory, but the signs haven't been positive recently that that's going to happen.

Coventry will be smelling blood even though their early season form has tailed off somewhat, with just one victory in their last five outings.

I cannot split the two sides though and I feel as though a draw is the most likely outcome of this match.
