Burnley will have to wade through plenty of bids and interested clubs for Adam Phillips this summer it seems, with Lancs Live reporting that plenty of EFL sides are queuing up for the player.

The 24-year-old is a wanted man it appears, with clubs in both the second and third tier seemingly considering bids to try and land him. With the player's deal soon to run out as well, it could end up being a permanent switch rather than a temporary one.

If he does seal a switch away from the Clarets on a full-time deal, it would mean his time at Turf Moor would come to an end without him ever having played a game for the side. He joined them back in 2019 but has spent the vast majority of his time out on loan ever since.

Instead, he has had to look elsewhere for more competitive action. Last season, he spent the campaign on loan with Morecambe in League One and played in 38 league outings as he became a first-team regular. With six goals and six assists to boot - leading to a decent average of 0.44 goals or assists per 90 - he has now caught the eye of other teams ahead of the new season.

He spent the season before that on loan with the Shrimps too, as they gained a promotion from League Two. His goal contribution rate was even more impressive that year too, with eight goals and six assists to his name.

The signs are then, that the 24-year-old can be a good option in the EFL if you give him more frequent gametime - and it now looks like Burnley could be prepared to offer him out again to give him the chance to continue playing frequently. There are plenty of teams ready to oblige too and sign the player.

The Verdict

Adam Phillips does look like he could be a very shrewd signing for any interested Championship or League One club during this summer window.

The midfielder has proven that if you give him playing time, he can produce the goods. He has struggled to break into the fold at Burnley but when shipped out to Morecambe in League One and then League Two, he has continued to be a regular in their side and has been impressive along the way.

Now, it could be time for the 24-year-old to finally get his career kickstarted. He will no doubt be growing tired of endless loan spells and with the chance for a permanent switch this offseason, he might jump at the opportunity to find himself a new home and try and break into his own team and become a regular there.

Either way, his future looks like it might not be with the Clarets - which might end up coming back to bite them if his experience so far is anything to judge him off.
