Cheltenham Town are interested in young Bristol City forwards Saikou Janneh and Tommy Conway but the Robins are yet to make a firm decision about letting players leave on loan, according to the Bristol Post

Both Janneh and Conway were handed their senior debuts by Nigel Pearson last season and have featured regularly during City's pre-season schedule.

However, with Chris Martin, Andi Weimann, and Nahki Wells fit, and Antoine Semenyo returning later in the season, opportunities may be harder to come by this term.

It seems they will have options elsewhere as the Bristol Post have reported that League One new boys Cheltenham are keen on the duo, with manager Michael Duff and assistant Wade Elliott present at an U23s game against Hungerford Town to scout them.

It is understood that the Championship side are yet to make a firm decision about letting players go out on loan for the 2021/22 campaign.

Janneh has been sent out on loan twice by the Robins, joining first Torquay United and then Newport County last term, but a move to Cheltenham would be Conway's first.

The Verdict

Sending one of Conway or Janneh out on loan to Cheltenham could be a smart move from City, allowing them to gain some vital first team experience in League One.

Given the other options available – in terms of senior forwards and young players – you feel that keeping both would be unnecessary for the 2021/22 campaign.

Cheltenham, meanwhile, will be getting a young and hungry forward determined to prove they're ready for regular senior football.

It seems like a win-win.
