Middlesbrough are reportedly keen on a deal to sign Chelsea full-back Baba Rahman according to the Daily Mail.

Rahman has struggled for consistent game time with Frank Lampard's side, and has only made 15 league appearances for the Blues, since arriving in the summer of 2015.

He spent last year's campaign on loan with Spanish side RCD Mallorca, and made just three appearances in total for them.

But the left-back has had a number of injury problems over the years, which seems to have limited his game time ever further with Chelsea in recent years.

Rahman will now be behind Ben Chilwell and Emerson Palmieri in the pecking order at Stamford Bridge, and it seems likely that he could be heading for a temporary exit from the club before the summer transfer window reaches a conclusion on Friday evening.

A move to Middlesbrough could tempt the full-back as well, with Boro starting this year's league campaign strongly in the Championship under the management of Neil Warnock.

They're currently sat tenth in the second-tier standings, and will fancy their chances of making a somewhat surprising push for a top-six finish if they can find some consistency in their performances.

Middlesbrough are set to return to action on Saturday, when they take on high-flying Reading, in what is certain to be a tricky test up against the Royals.

The Verdict:

It's clearly an area that Neil Warnock is keen to strengthen in the near future.

Middlesbrough could certainly benefit from adding strength in depth to their team in defence, and Rahman would provide them with that if he arrived at the Riverside.

Rahman has a point to prove in English football, and I think he'd be an excellent addition to the Middlesbrough team if he can recapture his best form.

I think any potential deal for Rahman will depend on whether Middlesbrough are successful in their attempts to sign Danny Rose though, as he seems to be their main target heading into Deadline Day.

If they don't sign Rose, then I can see Boro moving for Rahman on loan for the remainder of this year's campaign.
