Swansea City are braced for interest in Joe Rodon from Manchester United this summer, according to reports from Manchester Evening News.

The 22-year-old has established himself as one of the best defenders in the Championship under Steve Cooper, since breaking into the first team under Graham Potter last term.

The central defender has also impressed for Wales, with manager and United legend Ryan Giggs recently making comparisons from Rodon to Gary Pallister.

Rodon still has another two years left on his contract at the Liberty Stadium, but is likely to attract interest from plenty of high-profile clubs this summer.

Manchester Evening News understand that Swansea are braced for interest in their star defender, with United and Manchester City expected to be among those bidding.

Rodon - who is reportedly open to a move away from South Wales - is set to cost around £20m, and could be tempted by a move after seeing Dan James thrive at Old Trafford.

The Verdict

Rodon is a huge talent and is deserving of a move up to the Premier League, and a move to either United or City could be massive for him.

Both clubs need defenders, especially City having been made to rue the absences of John Stones and Aymeric Laporte, but whether he is good enough to fill that void remains to be seen.

If he signed for United, he would learn a great deal from Harry Maguire, and the Red Devils definitely need to bring in a talented, young defender to partner the former Leicester man.
