Sky Bet League One side Crewe Alexandra have beaten Blackburn Rovers to the signing of Manchester City winger Ben Knight, with the club confirming the deal on their Twitter page yesterday.
Knight was originally said to be on Blackburn’s list of loan targets, however he has now chosen to move a division lower in order to link up with the Railwaymen at Gresty Road.
It has also been said that Rovers are keen on two other Manchester City players, with the likes of Morgan Rogers and James McAtee also said to be on Tony Mowbray’s radar this summer.
The right winger embarks on his first Football League loan and has been brought in by Crewe as a direct replacement for Charlie Kirk, after the latter completed a lucrative move to Charlton Athletic recently.

Blackburn will now turn their attentions to other loan targets as Mowbray looks to strengthen further in key areas of the squad after what has been a quiet window for the Lancashire outfit so far.
This won’t be viewed as too much of a blow at Ewood Park as Knight was one of several loan targets that the club had in mind for the current window.
At the end of the day the likelihood is that the youngster was offered a better guarantee on playing time at Gresty Road and he now joins up with a club that has a reputation for blooding young talent into their first team.
Blackburn have however brought in Leighton Clarkson from Liverpool, who should add to what is an already talented array of midfield options at the Lancashire side.
It will be intriguing to see what other loanees Mowbray brings in as he continues to target temporary moves rather than permanent agreements for players who may or may not be free agents.
