Celtic could turn to Ipswich Town boss Paul Lambert if they sack Neil Lennon in the next month.
The current Hoops chief is under huge pressure right now, after a run of two wins in 12 games has left Celtic out of Europe and 13 points behind bitter rivals Rangers as they chase a historic tenth league title in a row.
Despite that, the club released a statement that backed Lennon, although they interestingly added that ‘progress will be reviewed in the new year’.
And, 90min have claimed that Lambert is a manager that has admirers on the Celtic board. They state that he is a frontrunner to takeover at Celtic Park if Lennon is removed.
Like the Northern Irishman, the Ipswich boss is a former player of the Glasgow giants, making over 250 appearances over an eight-year period from 1997, winning four league titles.
The 51-year-old has the Tractor Boys sitting third in League One, as they look to win promotion back to the Championship. But, he is also under pressure, with many Ipswich fans wanting Lambert sacked.
