Brentford will hold key talks with Said Benrahma upon his return from international duty, with the attacker’s future in West London up in the air as the transfer window approaches its final 48 hours.

Benrahma, so far this summer, hasn’t been the subject of much serious transfer interest. Thomas Frank has dripped him minutes as he’s returned from injury and, ahead of Friday’s transfer deadline, he’s still a Bees player.

However, things are starting to intensify now. Sky Sports’ Transfer Centre (13/10, 23:47) is reporting that the Bees with hold talks with the 25-year-old when he returns from international duty with Algeria.

Quiz: Do QPR and Brentford have these 10 things in common?

It’s claimed that Benrahma wants to leave Brentford ahead of Friday’s 5pm deadline, with West Ham already agreeing a fee worth up to £30m for his service. Additionally, Crystal Palace still retain an interest.

Benrahma was in fine form for Frank last season in the Championship. Alongside Ollie Watkins, he spearheaded the Bees’ push for the play-offs, scoring 17 goals and assisting a further nine.

Ultimately, Brentford lost the play-off final and are now facing up to another year in the Championship. Benrahma has been used sparingly at the start of this season, but did show flashes of him best in the 3-0 win over Fulham in the League Cup. He scored a brace in that game.

The Verdict

With Benrahma keen to move himself onto the Premier League this summer, it makes sense for Brentford to sit down with him and structure a route out of the club.

It’s pointless keeping him against his will, especially when clubs like West Ham appear willing to spend some serious money to land the 25-year-old.

In terms of those clubs interested, these talks should straighten up their own pursuit of the player. It should be far easier to get a deal over the line given that time is running out in the window.
