It has been a great few days for Eddie Nketiah with numerous highlights, but receiving praise from Ian Wright could be the best of the bunch for the Arsenal youngster.

First, on transfer deadline day the 20-year-old signed for Leeds on loan for the season, before scoring just 43 minutes into his debut in a League Cup first-round match away at Salford City.

His goal prompted praise from Gunners legend Wright on Twitter, who was delighted to see an Arsenal academy product impress on the professional stage.

Nketiah will be on cloud nine following his goal and the praise from someone he surely looks up to, and that confidence boost could be of great benefit to both him and Leeds United.

The striker impressed on his debut, and with Patrick Bamford the only other senior striker in the squad he has a great opportunity to become a first-team regular in a top Championship side, which will aid his development a great deal.

Marcelo Bielsa will hope he is the answer to what could be a problem area for Leeds following Kemar Roofe's departure.

Nketiah has a great reputation and was prolific at youth level, and if he can continue his great start then he should be on course for a successful season.

The Verdict

Nketiah has had a brilliant start to his Leeds career and the praise of a legend like Wright will do his confidence the world of good, and that could lead him to work his way into contention for the starting line-up earlier than first thought.

He will have to work hard to impress Bielsa and prove that he understands what is required of him, but a debut goal and a display of the poaching instinct he possesses will help him massively.

The striker should get an opportunity from the bench in the upcoming Championship games and will be ready to step in if Bamford is out of favour or unavailable, which he was frequently last season.
