Leeds United pipped Bristol City to the signing of Eddie Nketiah over the summer but since then the striker has really struggled to break into Marcelo Bielsa's team.

Nketiah has featured off the bench for the Whites 10 times and has scored three goals for Marcelo Bielsa's side, with all three coming later than the 80th minute.

The 20-year-old's impact off the bench had seen United fans call for the loanee to start ahead of Patrick Bamford, and he had been seemingly set for at least four starts for the club before an abdominal injury forced him out of contention.

Nketiah has made 19 first-team appearances for his parent club Arsenal scoring three goals including one in the Premier League in a 3-1 win at Burnley last term.

It will no doubt be a source of frustration for Unai Emery and some of Arsenal's fanbase given Nketiah's lack of game time at Elland Road.

During October it was rumoured that the Gunners were considering recalling Nketiah from his loan spell and sending the forward elsewhere in order to improve his chances of game time.

Albeit, Nketiah's latest set-back isn't Marcelo Bielsa's fault and it is unfortunate timing that Nketiah picked up his injury on the evening before he was due to make his first league start for the Whites.

The forward is unlikely to feature in United's squad for the trip to Kenilworth Road on Saturday, which will add to Arsenal's frustration, with the club hoping that he is back up to full fitness shortly.

Nketiah is clearly full of potential and when given the chance he has impressed in Marcelo Bielsa's side.

It will, no doubt, be tempting for the North London club to recall the forward and to send him elsewhere, but, realistically, who better would Nketiah learn under than Marcelo Bielsa.

Bielsa can be stubborn and doesn't like to change his sides too often, but his willingness to give Nketiah some starts before his injury does show that the striker is in the Argentine's plans.

It is clear that Nketiah is hungry to improve on the impact he has already made at the Elland Road club and in October revealed he was frustrated over his substitute role.

A source of assurance for the Gunners will be that there are still 30 games left to play in the Championship and should Bielsa give Nketiah a start over the next few weeks he could be in for a run of games.

Nketiah clearly has the potential and has demonstrated in North London but for now his development may benefit the most under Marcelo Bielsa.
